TREATMENTS:
Early Orthodontic Treatment: Early orthodontic treatment which also goes by the name of phase 1 orthodontics or interceptive orthodontics, involves using orthodontic braces or appliances to address specific functional or cosmetic problems at a young age. The most common time to begin this type of treatment is between the ages of 7 and 9. Remember that a second phase of orthodontics will most likely be needed after eruption of all permanent teeth to optimize the final results.
Traditional Orthodontics: Traditional orthodontics is very familiar to most people. This is the technique or using orthodontic braces to align the permanent teeth.
Metal Braces: Metal braces are by far the most common type of braces. These braces are made of stainless steel and the modern versions are very small and comfortable compared to the bulkier braces of the past.
Ceramic Braces: These braces are made from a clear translucent material that is perfect for anyone that is wanting a more cosmetic solution to traditional braces.
Damon Braces: These are known as self-ligating braces. Because they have a special door built into the bracket they have no need for elastic ties(colored ties) to hold the wires in place. This can lower friction between the brackets and the wires. In some cases, this may speed up your treatment time.
Invisalign: Invisalign is a technique of using clear plastic aligners to move teeth into the correct position. These aligners are virtually invisible and completely removable.
Invisalign Teen: The same invisalign system with teenagers in mind. These aligners are engineered with some minor differences specifically for teens.
Dentofacial Orthopedics: Orthodontists have a in depth knowledge of facial growth and development. Certain appliances either by themselves or in combination with braces may be used to impact facial growth. This can be very beneficial in correcting a variety of orthodontic problems, including overbites, underbites, and cross bites.
Habit Appliances: Some habits can be harmful to the teeth. The two most common are thumbsucking and tongue thrusting. Orthodontists are skillfully trained in using special appliances and techniques to attempt to resolve these habits.
